Here is the big deal!! Palomar secures film rights to The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa! This book hasn't even been released yet, and it has already been sold for it's movie rights!!
Julie Kagawa announced it this morning on her website, here is what she had to say.
"Now, before the questions start flooding in; this was just finalized
last week. I don't know when they are going to start filming, or even
if they are going to start filming. An OPTION just means that the
studio posseses the rights to make the book into a movie; it's not a
100% sure thing that the movie will be made. I have no say in
producers, I have no say in directors, I have no say in actors. I MIGHT
be consulted for certain things, but I might not.
Still, we have an OPTION. The first step in getting THE IMMORTAL RULES to the big screen.

Here is the Press release by UPI.com
LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Hollywood's
Palomar Pictures says it has optioned "Blood of Eden," a forthcoming
series of vampire books Julie Kagawa wrote for young adults. "The Immortal Rules," the first book in the series, will be published by Harlequin TEEN next week.
The novel is set in "a future world where humanity, decimated by a deadly virus, exists merely as a food source and slave class to an elite society of vampires," a synopsis said.
Palomar principal Joni Sighvatsson said she was passionate about the film potential of "The Immortal Rules" and eager to secure film rights for the book as well as the rest of the "Blood of Eden" series.
"It's simply a great story with an electrifying heroine for the 21st century. It makes the series an ideal subject for a film adaptation," Sighvatsson said in a statement Thursday. "Julie's ability to familiarize the reader with this complex world in a few pages demonstrates the cinematic qualities of her imagination and complements my own sensibilities as a film producer."
Natashya Wilson, senior editor for Harlequin TEEN, said she is thrilled Kagawa's novels are finally coming to the big-screen.
"Julie writes in such a cinematic way, I have seen her books as films from Day 1. Her fans have been clamoring for Julie Kagawa movies for a long time and I am so pleased that they are finally going to get their wish fulfilled."
Kagawa is the New York Times bestselling author of the award-winning "Iron Fey" book series.
I am as excited about this news as most of the fans!! What an accomplishment for Kagawa! The book won't be released until April 24th - just a few days from now- and the movie rights have already been sold! Congratulations Julie!!
