My Review:  So to be completely honest I ran out of time to get to this book! (bad bad Karen!) I was given all 3 books of the series to read last week and I was soooo overshooting my ambitions and confidence in my reading skills and balancing real life. BLAH. Real life just doesn't want to let me just sit and read all day!! RUDE for sure!  BUT.... (there is always a butt... I mean but!) I did make it through the first book The Watcher.  I can tell you... I will be reading the rest of this series!! Voisin's writing was so captivating from the beginning.  The characters were wonderful and I can't wait to dive into the next 2 books. I promise I will get to this book soon and when I do, I will post my full review on goodreads when it is done!  Don't miss out on this great series!

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES

Millennia ago, he fell from heaven for her.

Can he face her without falling again?

Fascinated with ancient civilizations, seventeen-year-old Mia Crawford dreams of becoming an archaeologist. She also dreams of wings—soft and silent like snow—and somebody trying to steal them.

When a horrible creature appears out of thin air and attacks her, she knows Michael Fontaine is involved, though he claims to know nothing about it. Secretive and aloof, Michael evokes feelings in Mia that she doesn’t understand. Images of another time and place haunt her. She recognizes them—but not from any textbook.
In search of the truth, Mia discovers a past life of forbidden love, jealousy and revenge that tore an angel from Heaven and sent her to an early grave. Now that her soul has returned, does she have a chance at loving that angel again? Or will an age-old nemesis destroy them both?

Ancient history is only the beginning.

Now that she’s found him again, all Mia Crawford wants is some downtime with her fallen angel boyfriend, Michael. But the call of duty keeps him away—from school and from her—with more demons to smite than ever.
When Michael is mortally wounded by a cursed sword, Mia must perform an ancient blood ritual to save him. But the spell exacts a price. Haunted by visions of war, torture, and despair, Mia discovers the world is in more danger than she ever imagined. Behind the scenes, an evil adversary pulls all the strings.
After redemption, there’s Hell to pay.

Immortal City

Immortal City by Scott Speer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary:   Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them.

He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect - everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat & and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.

Oh my FREAKING heck! I just finished this book and can I say, This book totally ROCKED my world. I seriously have not been so sucked into a book like this one in a long, long time. I literally read it all in one day... I did stop to eat and go potty, but I am ready to pick it up and read it again!

Call me sexist, but when I first saw that a man wrote this book, I had my doubts. Now, let me explain. I have read some great books written by men, recent ones too, but I have not experienced one that totally RULED in action, drama, suspense, and romance... let's face it, romance is viewed a little differently for men. Scott Speer, you have succeeded in all this! I was swooning quite a few times actually, along with biting my fingernails as things got tense. There were so many twists and turns, and the ending.... UGH! So awesome, I just wanted more!

I thought this story-line was incredible, so original bringing Angels out as celebrities, their powers known to all. The characters were likable and inviting. Maddy was awesome and kick-butt. I love a girl who rejects the norm and puts people where they belong. Jackson..what a hottie! A man..er Angel, who is the best at what he does, kicks some serious booty and a heart of gold.. Perfect.

As far as I know there is supposed to be another book to this.. oh please, oh please, oh please. I will definitely look for it!

A clean book I would recommend.

Hallowed

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After not fulfilling her purpose -the thing she was created to do-, Clara tries to figure out if there is more to that fateful day of the fire, when she was supposed to save Christian Prescott. She also starts having a recurrent dream where she discovers she will lose someone she loves within months. Clara is torn between her deep new feelings toward Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker. She continues being drawn into the battle between Black Wings and White wings while learning more and more about herself, her family and what part she plays in all this.

I knew that Christian had to make a big comeback in this book because I didn't feel like I got to know him at all. As much as he was made to be some kind of mysterious, gorgeous, hunk, and the fact he was Clara's purpose, I knew I was in for a lot of Christian. I was not disappointed at all, my feelings for Christian grew to love him as much as I do Tucker. Christian is determined, but patient with Clara, being her friend and helping her with "Angel" things that Tucker couldn't know or understand. Even when Clara was pushing him away, Christian didn't give up on her.

Oh Tucker! How could you not love Tucker and Clara's relationship? So wonderful and warm, despite all the huge and larger than life things Clara can do, they still are the average teenage couple; telling jokes, laughing, playing, kissing, going to dances, breaking rules, getting caught, and grounded. Clara fights to hang on to what they have.

Clara is stubborn, rebelling against her purpose which includes Christian. She fights to change her visions because she wants to be in charge of her life, not what is expected of her. As life changes, her graduation coming up, blackwings wanting her, the death of someone coming up, Clara has to grow up quickly and make some serious decisions.

Ms. Hand created one of the best young adult romances that I have read. My heart was breaking at the end of this book, but for some reason I felt at peace with it. I look forward to the next book of this series.

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush, Hush #3)

Nora wakes up not remembering the last 5 months, including Patch. I loved this approach to the story, keeping the reader in the dark as well as Nora. I could have done without the long drawn out explanations to get Nora up to speed about her life that she couldn't remember, but the reader (if they read the other 2 books) already knew it. I actually found myself skimming through a lot of those scenes. Other than that, I loved the characters. Nora, acting like a dumb 17 yr old, thinking she knows better and very insecure. Patch... well, Patch's sense of humor, style and just plain deliciousness remained unchanged. He could make me blush, that's for sure! Oh and can I steal a few nights in his hidden home? Satin sheets? My kind of place!!!

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

I fell in love with this story. I am a huge Angel fan, and I am a rebel at heart. So without giving too much away, this was right up my alley.
Clara just found out that she is part angel and that she has a certain purpose to fulfill in her life.  When she starts having visions of what her purpose will be, her family moves from California to Jackson Hole, Wyoming so she will be able to complete it.  Christian is the boy from her visions, but Clara can't figure out what her purpose with him will be.  She can't afford to be distracted, but when Tucker becomes someone she can trust, she has to make a dicision that could tear her heart into pieces.

Clara's personality reminds me of myself, especially at that young age; torn between doing what is "right" or expected of you and following your heart. I believe that 17 is a very difficult age;  deciding on education, career, and what "purpose" to accomplish in the future are all thoughts that these kids stress about. I enjoyed how the plot focused on Clara's purpose which I think I could apply in my own life.
This is a clean, fun, and suspensful book. The fact that it took place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (near where I live) added to my interest. Can't wait for book 2! Can I say that I am "team Tucker" right now? Who can resist a cute cowboy who loves his horse?
