Die for Me.. A bargain!

Summary:  In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Coming Soon!

Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3)Dark Frost by Jennifer Estep
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Publication date: May 29, 2012

Summary:  I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

From the beginning, Gwen is thrown right into action fighting reapers. This sets the stage for most of the book. In between the action, friendships are tried, new discoveries made, surprises come, and Gwen's own inner strength is challenged.

I can see how many could be drawn to Gwen, by not only her Kick-butt abilities, but by her feelings of inadequacy in her calling as Nike's Champion, as well as her relationship with her friends, especially Logan.

Estep continued the flow of the characters in this book, keeping them real and consistent. Vic is still the blood-thristy sword, Daphne is still..Daphne, Carson is as sweet as ever and Oliver's got Gwen's back. Logan... well,.. he is still swoon-worthy. Even though I wish there was a little more Logan Quinn in this book, it still kept my inner-teen satisfied.

The only downside is having to wait until 2013 to read the next one in the series!

An ARC was provided by the publisher through NetGalley.

Free Four!!

Free Four: Tobias Tells the StoryFree Four: Tobias Tells the Story by Veronica Roth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary:  A never-before-seen piece from #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth: a pivotal scene from DIVERGENT told from Four’s point of view.

What I wouldn't give to read more of Four's point of view! This little teaser was just not enough for this Tobias fan! Maybe we can convince Veronica Roth to do a whole book on Four's POV? OH Please, OH please, Oh please.

Everything in that scene makes more sense now! I was just as confused as Tris was with Four's actions and remarks, now I know what he was thinking it all fits together now. I wish I could say more without spoiling it for others who haven't read Divergent, but this was quite a treat!

Here is the link for the FREE Bonus! Free Four

Thanks Veronica Roth! Loved it!

Hot off the Press!

Here is the big deal!!  Palomar secures film rights to The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa!  This book hasn't even been released yet, and it has already been sold for it's  movie rights!!

Julie Kagawa announced it this morning on her website, here is what she had to say.

"Now, before the questions start flooding in; this was just finalized last week.  I don't know when they are going to start filming, or even if they are going to start filming.  An OPTION just means that the studio posseses the rights to make the book into a movie; it's not a 100% sure thing that the movie will be made.  I have no say in producers, I have no say in directors, I have no say in actors.  I MIGHT be consulted for certain things, but I might not.
Still, we have an OPTION.  The first step in getting THE IMMORTAL RULES to the big screen.

Here is the Press release by UPI.com
LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Palomar Pictures says it has optioned "Blood of Eden," a forthcoming series of vampire books Julie Kagawa wrote for young adults.
"The Immortal Rules," the first book in the series, will be published by Harlequin TEEN next week.
The novel is set in "a future world where humanity, decimated by a deadly virus, exists merely as a food source and slave class to an elite society of vampires," a synopsis said.
Palomar principal Joni Sighvatsson said she was passionate about the film potential of "The Immortal Rules" and eager to secure film rights for the book as well as the rest of the "Blood of Eden" series.
"It's simply a great story with an electrifying heroine for the 21st century. It makes the series an ideal subject for a film adaptation," Sighvatsson said in a statement Thursday. "Julie's ability to familiarize the reader with this complex world in a few pages demonstrates the cinematic qualities of her imagination and complements my own sensibilities as a film producer."
Natashya Wilson, senior editor for Harlequin TEEN, said she is thrilled Kagawa's novels are finally coming to the big-screen.
"Julie writes in such a cinematic way, I have seen her books as films from Day 1. Her fans have been clamoring for Julie Kagawa movies for a long time and I am so pleased that they are finally going to get their wish fulfilled."
Kagawa is the New York Times bestselling author of the award-winning "Iron Fey" book series.

I am as excited about this news as most of the fans!!  What an accomplishment for Kagawa!  The book won't be released until April 24th - just a few days from now- and the movie rights have already been sold!  Congratulations Julie!!

Immortal City

Immortal City by Scott Speer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary:   Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them.

He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect - everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat & and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.

Oh my FREAKING heck! I just finished this book and can I say, This book totally ROCKED my world. I seriously have not been so sucked into a book like this one in a long, long time. I literally read it all in one day... I did stop to eat and go potty, but I am ready to pick it up and read it again!

Call me sexist, but when I first saw that a man wrote this book, I had my doubts. Now, let me explain. I have read some great books written by men, recent ones too, but I have not experienced one that totally RULED in action, drama, suspense, and romance... let's face it, romance is viewed a little differently for men. Scott Speer, you have succeeded in all this! I was swooning quite a few times actually, along with biting my fingernails as things got tense. There were so many twists and turns, and the ending.... UGH! So awesome, I just wanted more!

I thought this story-line was incredible, so original bringing Angels out as celebrities, their powers known to all. The characters were likable and inviting. Maddy was awesome and kick-butt. I love a girl who rejects the norm and puts people where they belong. Jackson..what a hottie! A man..er Angel, who is the best at what he does, kicks some serious booty and a heart of gold.. Perfect.

As far as I know there is supposed to be another book to this.. oh please, oh please, oh please. I will definitely look for it!

A clean book I would recommend.

The Calling by Kelley Armstrong

The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2)
The Calling by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not even skipping a beat, this book took off running from the moment the last one ended, never slowing down!

After Maya and her friends end up in a helicopter running from the fire and strange people posing as help and rescue, they realize they are not going where they are supposed to. A Struggle in the cockpit ends up in a crash where the kids end up on their own, running, trying to figure out who they can trust. The group, who have known each other almost all their lives, realize they all are not who they thought they were... and some may have dark secrets.

It's difficult not to share more.... and there is a lot I want to say about this, but it will give away too much! There is one thing I do have to say to Maya... Hello??? Are you stupid?? Daniel!!!

There are so many twists and turns, action and adventure, it's more than enough to keep you from sleeping until you have read the entire thing.

I really enjoy Kelley Armstrong's writing, not just in this series but others as well. It's all pretty clean, with some romance and lots of action.

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Julie Kagawa brings Vampire to a whole new level, just as she did with Faeries in the Iron Fey series. In this, the first book, The Immortal Rules, of her new series Blood of Eden, she brings a post Apocalyptic twist with a young heroine who has to fight the demon her body demands she is.

"There will come a time when the road before you splits, and you must decide your path. Will you choose to become a demon with a human face, or will you fight your demon until the end of time, knowing you will forever struggle alone?"

Being honest, I am not a huge fan of dark books and I was a little bit skeptical about this one, especially about vampires. Trusting in Kagawa's writing, I took a chance. She focuses so much on her characters that I was immediately drawn in, falling for each one of them. Even the secondary characters had depth and a unforgettable presence.

Allison Sekemoto, the main character is totally kick-butt, as a human and a vampire. As a human, she struggles opening up to others, protecting herself from the death she is surrounded by. Fighting to survive daily, she has to put up huge walls. I feel it is only after she becomes a vampire when she realizes what she has lost... her humanity. She fights to keep it by forming relationships with others, creating bonds to keep the monster inside her from taking over. Meeting Zeke, the blonde-haired blue-eyed boy with a huge heart, with the weight of the world on his shoulders, opens up Allison's heart.

This book is dark, has some language, a lot of blood and violence. No F-bombs that I remember, but I would say this is more for those over 16 years of age.

I want to thank Harlequin Teen and NetGalley for making this available for my review.

Everneath

Everneath (Everneath, #1)Everneath by Brodi Ashton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Summary:   Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's..

It seems as though I have been reading more and more books that go into Greek Mythology, but this one is quite different. Brodi Ashton creates a whole new world that exists just under our own, where time is different, and the Everliving feed. She also did a great job with the characters, focusing on their teenage emotions that drastically change from one moment to the next. I thought it was brilliant how she brought that as the focus of what the everliving need to survive.

Nikki's character does what she thinks will take her pain away not fully understanding the consequences of her decision, letting Cole take her with him. I liked Cole. Maybe I am one who likes the bad boys, but Cole makes it clear that he may have a heart after all. Then there is Jack... Whatta man! Not many boys would do what he did for his best friend and love.

It was a heartbreaking book. Ashton writes in the present and past, which sometimes confused me, but made it even sadder. I would have loved something in it that gave me more hope than it did, at least a smidge more. I expect the next book is a little more hopeful in the "no way out" scenario.

Soooooo HOT!

I, being a Cassandra Clare fan, was snooping around her website, reading other blogs about her books, etc.. and came across this WONDERFUL EXTRA to the Clockwork Prince.  I have to admit I am very picky on my romance scenes, I don't like raunchy, dirty scenes at all.  I like some passion without all the nasty terminology, details that go too far.... so THIS... This is one of the best scenes I have read in a long time.  Plus, for those of you who have read it and know what I am talking about, this extra is written from Jem's point of view... WOWEEE!!

Enjoy!!
